scholarship details, nomination rules, and eligibility info:
-
The individual being nominated must be a wildland firefighter. The individual submitting the nomination does not need to be a wildland firefighter
-
No. You can nominate as many firefighters as you’d like. They must be submitted as separate nominations. You cannot nominate yourself.
-
Each nomination submission will be independently reviewed and graded by each member of the Rugged Athlete Coaching Staff. The nomination with the highest collective grades across the staff will be the winner.
-
The more detailed responses you give on your nomination form the better. We want to really understand why the firefighter you are nominating deserves this scholarship. We also want to feel confident that this firefighter will take full advantage of this scholarship and work extremely hard during the 12 weeks they are in the 1:1 coaching program.
-
There will be 1 scholarship winner for 2026. We are hoping to expand this scholarship in 2027 and beyond to offer more opportunities.
-
The Wildland Firefighter community is special and this is one way we want to give back to the community.
Our goal with this scholarship program is to expose more wildland firefighters to high level strength and conditioning, and nutrition coaching.
We also understand the reality that wildland firefighters have been historically underpaid, and that the high level coaching we offer at Rugged Athlete is often unaffordable to many in our profession. This scholarship is a way to make our coaching more accessible to all wildland firefighters.
